Kia Ora Ake – School-Based Mental Wellbeing

School-based wellbeing support for tamariki in South Auckland.

Kia Ora Ake is a school-based service that supports tamariki with their mental and emotional wellbeing. We work in primary and intermediate schools across South Auckland, helping tamariki, their whaanau, and kura to feel supported, connected, and strengthened. Our approach is kaupapa Maaori, locally co-designed, and part of the national Mana Ake programme.

Our kaiaawhina work alongside students, whaanau, teachers, and our clinical kaimahi to understand what each tamaiti needs. Support can look like simple one-on-one check-ins, group or classroom programmes, or whole-school wellbeing activities. We focus on building strong relationships, making support easy to access, and responding to the needs each school identifies.
