Kano Aarai helps whaanau keep their peepi and tamariki well by making immunisation easy to get, easy to understand, and easy to trust. Immunisation protects tamariki from serious diseases — but many Maaori whaanau face more barriers to healthcare and have fewer chances to access services.
Our team helps change that. We take immunisation into the community through home visits, mobile clinics, marae, koohanga reo, kura, community events, and other local spaces. By meeting whaanau where they are, we remove barriers, build trust, and make the whole process simpler and safer for everyone.
Our service is kaupapa Maaori and whaanau-centred. We support peepi and tamariki under 24 months, hapuu maamaa, and whaanau who may need extra help. We share clear, friendly information, answer questions without judgement, and help whaanau feel confident about the choices they make for their tamariki.
We also organise bookings, reminders, transport support, and follow-ups — so no one is missed. Our nurses and outreach team provide gentle, trusted care, and we offer immunisations to other whaanau members living in the home when needed.
Our goal is simple: more protected peepi, more confident whaanau, and healthier futures for our communities.
