Iwi Support Service

Kaupapa Maaori support to stay well and live independently.

Our Iwi Support Service helps whaanau recovering from mental illness to stay well, build confidence, and live independently. We walk alongside you and your whaanau with practical, kaupapa Maaori support — including goal planning, service navigation, advocacy, illness management, and community connection.

Your Iwi Support Worker (ISW) will work closely with you, your whaanau, and your clinical team. Each ISW supports a small caseload so you get personalised care. Together, you’ll create a simple support plan that reflects your goals and supports your day-to-day wellbeing. This plan is reviewed frequently so it can change as your life changes.

Things to know

  • This service is for whaanau aged 17–64 years old, with a confirmed mental health diagnosis.
  • You need to be linked with a clinical mental health team in the community.
  • Referrals can come from support workers, psychiatrists, community mental health teams, or you can self-refer if you already have a clinical team.

We help support your goals to wellness and make sure you’re ready to get back into the swing of things.
